Design thumbnails that earn clicks
Most impressions of your video will be a thumbnail the size of a postage stamp. Design for that size first, and the big version takes care of itself.
Your two tools
- Custom upload — in the video editor, upload an image you designed anywhere. Full control.
- AI Thumbnail Creator — Studio's built-in creator helps you compose a thumbnail without leaving Vidnexa: start from a frame or image, then add bold text and layout.
Rules that hold up
- Three elements or fewer. One face or object, one background, a few words.
- Big, short text — 3 to 5 words, readable at arm's length on a phone.
- Contrast and brightness — your thumbnail sits among dozens of others; muted blends in.
- Express, don't describe — a surprised face or a striking before/after outsells a screenshot of the video.
- Stay honest — the thumbnail, like the title, is a promise the video must keep.
When a video underperforms
Before blaming the topic, try a new thumbnail. Swapping it in the editor takes a minute, needs no re-upload, and is the highest-leverage change you can make to an existing video.
