Streaming software (encoders): current status

menu_book Lesson 2 of 3 schedule 3 min read

Creators often ask about broadcasting from desktop streaming software (an “encoder”) with scenes, overlays, and multiple sources. Here is the accurate status.

Not available yet

Encoder streaming is not available on Vidnexa today. There is currently no RTMP ingest server running, which means streaming software has nothing to connect to: a stream key alone cannot make it work, and any instructions suggesting otherwise are out of date. We would rather tell you this plainly than let you spend an evening debugging a connection that cannot succeed.

Your working options today

  • Camera live — broadcast from your browser right now (previous lesson).
  • Premieres — present a pre-recorded video as a scheduled live-style event, with a waiting page, countdown, and viewer reminders (next lesson).
  • Spaces — live audio rooms exist on Vidnexa; the experience is still being improved, so test before relying on it for an important session.

When encoder ingest launches, this lesson will be replaced with full setup steps.
