Set up your channel: name, avatar, banner, description
Your channel page is your storefront. Before you publish anything, spend a few minutes in Studio → Customization so the first visitors see a channel that looks intentional.
The four basics
- Channel name — the display name shown on your channel, your videos, and your comments. Keep it short and consistent with the name you use elsewhere.
- Avatar — a clear face, logo, or icon. It appears at small sizes everywhere (comments, subscriptions, search), so simple and high-contrast beats detailed.
- Banner — the wide image across the top of your channel. Say what the channel is about in a few words, and keep important text away from the edges so it is not cropped on phones.
- Description — two or three sentences: what you publish, who it is for, and how often. This text also helps people find you through search.
Check it like a viewer
Open your channel page while signed out (or in a private window). Ask: would a stranger understand this channel in five seconds? If yes, you are ready to upload.
The Academy home page has a new-creator checklist that reads your real channel state — these four items check themselves off as you complete them.
