Your channel analytics at a glance

menu_book Lesson 1 of 3 schedule 5 min read

Studio → Analytics is your channel's instrument panel. You do not need to love numbers — you need five of them.

The core numbers

  • Views — how often your videos were watched in the period.
  • Watch time — total minutes viewers spent. This is the number the platform cares about most, because it measures real attention, not just clicks.
  • Subscribers gained — whether viewers are converting into regulars.
  • Top videos — which videos earn the attention; your catalogue's centre of gravity.
  • Traffic sources — where views come from (search, home, subscriptions, external links), which tells you what to do more of.

Reading trends, not days

Daily numbers jump around. Compare weeks to weeks, and look at what changed when a number moves: a new video? A thumbnail swap? A shout-out? Analytics answers “what happened” — your job is to connect it to what you did.

New channels start with thin data, and the panels fill in as views arrive. An honest “not enough data yet” is normal at the beginning — publish, and the picture sharpens.
