Beautiful country, but huge heads-up on money: The Tunisian Dinar is a closed currency, so taking cash out of the country is strictly illegal. Before exchanging cash, ask the agent upfront to confirm they provide an official paper receipt (bordereau de change) and will accept re-exchanges. Keep every paper receipt (avoid ATMs since they often lack receipts), because legally you are entitled to convert unused cash back at the airport up to 30% of your total. Do this before passing passport control, and if an agent tries to turn you away, politely assert your right using your official receipt. The safest strategy is still exchanging small amounts as you go and spending the rest before leaving!

My daughter is just flying back from two weeks there. She said some of the people are ok but outside the hotel they were treated as pieces of meat. Then a few days ago at a bar in the hotel locals are allowed in she was spiked with what we think is GHB. On investigation that substance is being used by rapists in that area. <br><br>If you are a young lady this isnโt the place for you.

They are still primarily Muslim but are a lot more secular than other nations, especially Egypt. 25-30% of the women are employed which is quite a high number and women wear a simple hair covering, rather than the niqab or hijab, also many urban women go unveiled and with western clothing. Tunisia outlaws polygamy, gives equal divorce rights and It mandated mutual consent for marriage and banned forced marriages, setting minimum age requirements. All of which is extremely progressive compared to Sharia Law. Also the 2014 "Civil State" Clause entirely separated religious and state laws.... its a lot
