Ukraine’s parliament voted Tuesday to formally dismiss Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko amid a corruption probe into subordinates in his office. The dismissal comes after Kravchenko quietly left the country over the weekend, sparking a major political standoff with independent anti-graft agencies.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian army has gone on the offensive to reclaim territory around the town of Lyman. The area, a critical bulwark against Russian advances towards the so-called “fortress belt,” has been a repeated target of Russian infiltrations.
This comes as Russian strikes against Ukraine over the last 24 hours have killed nine people and wounded more than 70, with attacks targeting civilian and fuel infrastructure.
To discuss this and more, Ukraine Brief’s host Ayşe Abacı is joined by Peter Dickinson, UkraineAlert Editor at the Atlantic Council.
