Merz arrives in Kyiv as Russia targets Ukraine's energy ahead of winter | Morning Report

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has arrived in Kyiv in a show of support for Ukraine as Russia intensifies attacks on the country’s cities and energy infrastructure ahead of winter.

Russian drones struck Kyiv’s northern bridge yesterday, the latest in a series of attacks on the capital’s lifeline over the Dnipro River. Attacks on Friday night and into Saturday morning also killed several people and wounded more than 80 across the country.

Voting has begun in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in both presidential and parliamentary elections that could impact the country’s EU membership bid. Around 3.5 million people are eligible to vote.
