My maternal grandmother , and my paternal great - grandfather were born in Germany. My mother and grandmother spoke the language daily . My grandmother made all the German dishes and pastries for us. Going to her house was a gift . We were also exposed to the dancing and singing . Wonderful stuff !! My brothers wore lederhosen , and I wore a traditional dress. We drank beer from a glass boot and never got splashed !! That was 55 years ago . My brothers and I still talk about those wonderful times.
