Dubai is safe, confortable, full of convenience. When it comes to accommodation, cost varies by neighborhood. It is a meeting place of successful people seeking refuge from high taxation and being harassed by envy, and of people that wants to improve their life back at home. There are people from development countries who work in Dubai and send money back home to give their children a better future. There are others who go there to accumulate wealth faster to improve their retirement.<br>It is not a place to build a life of being dependent of public stipend. But it is a place where there are opportunities to monetize skills.<br>At the same time, being a tourist hub, there are a lot of entertainment opportunities to dilute wealth. I have met great people there, and I have been told there is not-so-good people about also.<br><br>I praise the forethought of the city planners and rulers to build such a well-functioning city in such a short time.<br><br>Most matters with government are solved through a phone app. I have witnessed a traffic incident, a low intensity accident with which one car scratched another. Cars stopped. Drivers talked. I've traveled numerous times in Europe, the USA, and Asia, but I have never really explored Dubai, except in the airport during a couple of hours layover. I could have stopped and wandered, but knowing it's authoritarian, artificially made and of course has no history, plus the fact that it is so hot there, has never really attracted me.
