Mark, you ranked oyster omelette last and rightly pointed out that the dish is so rich that it is difficult to eat more than a few mouths of it. Please try our trick (We have been doing this for 30+ years) the next time you have a good Singapore oyster omelette (Hup Kee ranks in my top 5). Have it with a chilled Kiwi Sauvignon Blanc. The acidity of a good dry white wine is the perfect accompaniment to orluak (and most greasy Singapore hawker food). If you do get the chance, let us know what you think. As they say in Singapore, die die must try!

You dont realise what you just did to yourself Mark...... You gonna be a marked man Mark when you go to Malaysia after crowning nasi lemak as Singapore's best street food...... dead man walking when you're gonna be in Malaysia dude. And that's coming from a Singaporean concerned about your safety when you travel over the causeway...... They don't take kindly to their national dish being appropriated, certainly not by the likes of their rival and neighbor when it comes to food origins and superiority. Mark Mark Mark..... best of luck in Malaysia.

Mark I have no idea how a foodie could put extremely overcooked chicken at the top of his list no matter how much spicy sauce you put on top of dry chicken it still tastes like sh*t 😢 I love perfectly cooked chicken and that means it's not dry it's soft flavorful and juicy

We lived in Singapore for 5 years and so had the opportunity to try so many dishes. But my favorites were always Laksa (extra spicy with cockles), BBQ stingray and Char Kway Teow. We also loved blood cockles by themselves as well as Beef Randang. My daughters favorite was always chicken rice.

So I'm at the Malaysia Airlines lounge at Changi Airport for my early morning flight back to Thailand. I skipped breakfast at my hotel knowing I could eat at the airport lounge. Jam on toast? No strawberry, plum, apricot etc jam to be seen in the lounge only "kaya jam" mixed with pandan. Yoghurt for breakfast? Nope - no yoghurt. Even the 7-11's in Singapore don't sell it. OK I get it: Chinese Singaporeans largely don't consume dairy products. But what about foreigners or even the local Singapore Indian community?
