Gas agreement signed

Senior government officials and energy industry leaders gathered at the Port of Ngqura in Gqeberha for the signing of a landmark agreement between Transnet National Ports Authority and Ukwanda LNG. This will see South Africa's second liquefied natural gas import terminal developed in the Eastern Cape. And comes amid growing pressure to secure stable energy supply and attract new investment into the country's struggling economy. The project is being hailed as a major infrastructure breakthrough that could reshape the country's energy landscape, and strengthen the Eastern Cape's role in regional trade and industrial development. The 25-year concession agreement will position the province at the centre of the country's future gas economy, while driving investment, job creation and industrial growth in the region.
