Chief Albert Luthuli’s legacy honoured

Fifty-nine years after the passing of Africa's first Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Chief Albert Luthuli, a monumental campaign is under way to rewrite history books and restore his true legacy.​

Today marks the 59th anniversary of his death, and the Luthuli Foundation and Royal Norwegian Embassy have officially declared 2027 as the 'Year of Luthuli' during a commemoration at his home in Groutville, near Kwadukuza in KwaZulu-Natal.

This follows a landmark High Court ruling which officially erased a decade-long apartheid lie surrounding the cause of his death.
