Joburg's Eskom Debt, OneLine, Strategy to stabilise electricity infrastructure

The City of Johannesburg has agreed to establish a preliminary Distribution Agency Agreement with Eskom, in a major bid to tackle its crippling electricity debt and billing challenges.

This follows an intensive two-day meeting convened by Energy and Electricity Minister, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, alongside Johannesburg Mayor, Dada Morero, and Eskom CEO, Dan Marokane.

The high-stakes talks were triggered by the city's mounting R5.2-billion debt owed to the power utility. SABC News Economics Reporter Katlego Legodi has more.
