Over in the United States, the Nasdaq ended sharply higher on Thursday as Micron Technology fueled a rally in chip stocks.

The S&P 500 gained 0.79%.

The Nasdaq Composite gained 1.27%.

And the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.27%.
