Four killed in Bushbuckridge drive-by shooting

Mpumalanga police have intensified investigations following the fatal shooting of four people in a suspected drive-by in Calcutta, near Mkhuhlu township in Bushbuckridge, last night (Sunday, 12 July 2026).

Police say a vehicle carrying five occupants was ambushed as it entered a residential property in the township.

Armed assailants opened fire on the vehicle, killing four occupants, critically wounding the fifth.

Premier Mandla Ndlovu has assured residents that authorities are closing in on the mastermind behind the spate of violent crimes in the area.

The motive for the attack is unknown.
