Steve Tshwete Municipality in waste truck dispute

The South African Municipal Workers Union has slammed Steve Tshwete Municipality in Middleburg, Mpumalanga's decision to lease waste collection trucks.

The union accuses the municipality of wasting public funds by outsourcing a service it should provide itself.

The municipality has signed a three-year deal to lease seven waste trucks at a cost of more than R600 000 a month.
