N West closes illegal initiation schools

Five young men have died at initiation schools in the North West during the winter initiation season.

They were among 43 initiates who have died nationwide to date.

As the last initiates prepare to go home, tragedy has befallen an initiation school in Van Wyk farm in the Delareyville District.

A male initiate passed away, and the Provincial Initiation Coordinating Committee shut the school down.

140 initiation schools were registered for the winter season in the North West.
