New UN report points to potential benefits of AI

A new United Nations report has found that the potential benefits of Artificial Intelligence are enormous if deployed and applied thoughtfully but warns that rapid, unchecked deployment of the technology at scale also presents considerable risks. That is among the findings of a preliminary report released by the UN Independent International Scientific Panel on Artificial Intelligence appointed by the General Assembly in February, that warns that reliable methods of retaining control over highly autonomous AI systems were lacking.
