Enyobeni Inquest | Tavern owners, police, liquor board and others found negligent

The KuGompo City Regional court sitting in Mdantsane has ruled that the cause of the deaths of the 21 young people who died in the Enyobeni tragedy four years ago was people crush asphyxiation.

The court ruled in the inquest that the deaths were caused by the negligence of Seargent Thabile Kondile, the tavern owner Vuyokazi Ndevu, and the manager Siyakhangela Ndevu, Thembisa Diko - the bouncer on the night, and Zuko Lizani from the Eastern Cape Liquor Board.
The Court has recommended that the said individuals be prosecuted.
