The ANC's Chief Whip, Mdumiseni Ntuli, says the National Assembly is expected to establish a committee that will convene on Monday to elect its chairperson and begin carrying out its responsibilities.
The Impeachment Committee was established to look into the allegations of misconduct by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Ntuli says the committee's work would depend on the legal opinion expected to be obtained by the Speaker of Parliament regarding the implications of the President's court intervention.
He explained that if the legal advice indicates there is no legal basis to halt the committee's work despite the President approaching the courts, the committee would be required to proceed with its mandate.
