Why is F1 suddenly returning to Malaysia?

Formula One is returning to Malaysia for the first time since 2017 — but only for one race. The Sepang International Circuit will host the F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia from Oct 2 to 4, after the original Bahrain race was cancelled due to the Middle East conflict. Hans Westerbeek, professor of international sport business at Victoria University, speaks to CNA’s Asia Now about the significance of the one-off race and what it could mean for the future of the sport in the region.
