Tensions remain high in the trucking industry following the arrest of three individuals, including a senior leader of the All Truck Drivers Forum and Allied South Africa, during a planned protest against the employment of foreign nationals in the sector.

While authorities say the arrests are linked to alleged incitement to violence amid threats of a national shutdown, the organisation insists the demonstration was peaceful and claims police used excessive force against unarmed protesters.
