Phala Phala Saga | National Assembly Speaker impartial and not independent: EFF

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has formally tabled a motion of no-confidence against National Assembly Speaker, Thoko Didiza.

In a letter addressed to Deputy Speaker Annelie Lotriet, the EFF said the motion should be treated as a matter as urgency, in line with the constitution and the rules of the National Assembly.

The party accuses Didiza of failing to uphold Parliament's constitutional responsibilities in relation to oversight, and in the handling of the section 89 impeachment process.

The motion now awaits consideration by the National Assembly.
