Iran Announces Gradual Restoration of International Internet Access

Iranian authorities say international internet access will gradually be restored nationwide after nearly three months of severe restrictions.

State media reports President Masoud Pezeshkian approved the decision as officials claim the security situation in the country is beginning to stabilise.

The restrictions were imposed during protests and wartime tensions, leaving millions with limited or no access to international messaging platforms, social media and global websites.

Officials say domestic banking systems and local online services remained operational during the shutdown, while authorities defended the restrictions as necessary for national security and to prevent cyber attacks and disinformation campaigns.
