* Queues have been building up at petrol stations this evening in the last-minute rush to fill up with fuel before the next increase hit at midnight. Both grades of petrol increase by R3.27 per litre, while diesel goes up by R5.27 a litre and not R6.19 as previously announced, after government admitted to a miscalculation in the diesel price increase.

* KwaZulu-Natal has placed its disaster management structures on high alert following the escalation of severe weather warnings to Level 6 in parts of the province. Authorities are preparing for heavy rainfall and possible flooding linked to an approaching cold front and cut-off low system.

* National Coloured Congress leader and MP Fadiel Adams is set to appear in court tomorrow following his arrest in Cape Town on charges of fraud and defeating the ends justice. Police allege that Adams interfered with investigations into the murder of former ANC Youth League leader Sindiso Magaqa.
