Bringing warmth to senior citizens in Eastern Cape rural areas

Winter has arrived, and it's bearing its icy teeth. Its a difficult time of year for many elderly people, especially in rural areas.

This year, the government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) provided warm blankets to senior citizens from several rural villages in Tsolo, in the Eastern Cape.

In many rural areas, the elderely battle poverty, and crimes against them.

Between April and June this year, more than twelve women were murdered in the rural villages around Matatiele, Mqanduli and Engcobo.
