#WATCH | Today’s decision brought a major change by extending timelines for plain and hill areas. In plain areas, both roads and bridges under PMGSY-III are now set for completion by March 2028. In hilly areas, roads are set for March 2028 and bridges for March 2029. The outlay has been increased to ₹83,977 crore, which will help continue and complete ongoing projects and address climate-related infrastructure challenges.

Now, two important railway projects were discussed. One is the Ghaziabad–Sitapur stretch in the north, and the other is Visakhapatnam–Rajahmundry. The Ghaziabad–Sitapur section is among the most congested in the country, with trains arriving or departing almost every five minutes. Since major traffic from Delhi and much of North and West India passes through Ghaziabad, capacity expansion is needed toward both the Nepal border route and the Kanpur route.

After the Dedicated Freight Corridor, this new Ghaziabad–Sitapur third and fourth line project has been approved. It will run through Hapur, Gajraula, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Roza to Sitapur, creating a quadruple line and effectively a new corridor. It will include bypasses to avoid congestion, be fully Kavach-fitted, and designed for high capacity and semi-high speed. The project cost is ₹14,926 crore: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw
