Matlala remanded in custody on corruption charges

Alleged underworld kingpin, Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala, will remain at the Kgosi Mampuru Maximum Security Prison until his next appearance in the Pretoria Magistrates' Court on 13 May. Matlala faces fraud and corruption charges related to a R360-million SAPS contract he received in 2024. The tender was awarded to his company, Medicare24, allegedly irregularly. It was subsequently withdrawn last year.
