US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington and Beijing are laying the groundwork for Chinese President Xi Jinping’s potential visit in September.

Despite deep differences, he emphasised on Wednesday (Jul 22) that the world's two most powerful economies must manage their relationship, noting potential areas of cooperation.
