Super El Nino: How a record weather event could make 2027 the hottest year ever

A powerful El Nino is developing, with meteorologists warning it could become the strongest in living memory.

The weather phenomenon is already linked to drought in the Panama Canal, flooding in Chile and wildfires in Indonesia. El Nino disrupts global rainfall patterns, bringing drought to some regions and storms and flooding to others.

With global temperatures already elevated by climate change, meteorologists warn that the combination could make 2027 the hottest year on record.
