Calls for AU to address challenges confronting Africa

The African Union is urged to take a leading role in addressing the challenges confronting the continent and improving the lives of its people.

Diplomats attending an event in Johannesburg, as part of Africa Month celebrations, say Africans in the diaspora could play a critical role in the region's development.

They maintain that while Africa holds enormous potential, progress continues to be undermined by divisions and instability.
