Erosion of trust between citizens and governments: Leonardo Santos Simao

The UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for West Africa and the Sahel, Leonardo Santos Simao, says the growing erosion of trust between governments and their citizens lies at the heart of the political and security problems facing Africa. Speaking to the SABC on the sidelines of the Dakar International Forum on Peace and Security in Africa, Simao said African governments are increasingly neglecting the youth, creating frustration and instability.
