2026 SBYA | Awardees, Gabi Motuba (Jazz) and Jason Jacobs (Theatre) share plans for Makhanda

The Standard Bank Young Artist Awards does not simply predict South Africa's future talent; it hands it the mic, script, and stage.

The winners of the 2026 cohort were announced in April, and will hit National Arts Festival in Makhanda from June 25 to July 5 with one mission; to premiere new work and smash the definitions of genres.

Joining the show is Jazz winner, Gabi Motuba who treats sound as inquiry and spiritual practice, and Theatre Winner, also known as the Keeper of Namakwa Roots, Jason Jacob.
