U.S. launched strikes on Iran as Pentagon vowed to “hit hard” | Morning Report

END OF THE U.S.-IRAN WAR STILL FAR OFF?
U.S. Central Command launched a series of what it described as defensive strikes against Iran for the second night in a row. In response, Tehran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, prompting a spike in oil and gas prices.

PETE HEGSETH ON A “HARD STRIKE AGAINST IRAN”
Prior to the attacks, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told reporters the Pentagon was planning to “hit Iran hard,” explaining that while the U.S. does not want to renew hostilities, Iran continues to stall negotiations.

RUSSIAN ATTACK ON ZAPORIZHZHIA AMONG OTHER TARGETS
Russia continued its attacks on Ukraine overnight. In the city of Pavlohrad, 12 people were wounded in a drone strike late on Wednesday. Meanwhile, amid attacks in the Zaporizhzhia region, three others were wounded.
