Civil rights activist, Siyabulela Jentile, has called on young people to show up in their large numbers at voting stations to register to vote or update their voter registration details.
His call comes amid concerns over low registration levels of young people at some voting stations in the Johannesburg CBD.
The IEC has revealed that more than 70% of South Africans aged between 18 and 19 have not registered to vote despite being eligible.
The Commission has earlier announced that more than 330,000 voter registration applications have been processed by midday on the first day of the national voter registration weekend campaign.
Jentile hopes that the low registration among young people at voting stations could mean that many have opted for online registration platform.
