Singapore’s Minister for National Development Chee Hong Tat announced some changes to housing regulations on Tuesday (Jul 28). Among them include the removal of the 15-month wait-out period for private property owners to buy HDB resale flats. Also, housing developers taking on large en bloc projects will get more time to complete and sell units under revised Additional Buyer’s Stamp Duty (ABSD) rules.
During his speech at the opening day of the 11th Singapore Economic Review Conference, Mr Chee also added that the ministry will look at lowering the eligibility age of 35 for singles to buy HDB flats, due to changing demographics in Singapore.
