LGE 2026 | IEC In the Eastern Cape says voter registration weekend largely incident-free

The Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) in the Eastern Cape says voter registration in the province proceeded smoothly, despite community protest-related challenges at four registration stations, and only 1 voting station in the King Sabata Dalinyebo area not opening.

The commission says all other stations remained operational and are equipped to continue processing registrations until 5pm today, with online systems also used to manage the workload.
