Chikunga launches SASSA service delivery initiative in Soweto

Acting Minister of Social Development, Sindisiwe Chikunga, says using SASSA grant funding for the personal benefit of parents, rather than for the needs of the children, constitutes criminal conduct.

Chikunga has led a high-impact Integrated Community Registration Outreach Programme, at Power Park Grounds, in Soweto.

This is one of the SASSA flagship service delivery initiatives aimed at bringing essential government and social services directly to communities.

She added that investigations are underway into allegations of 'ghost' SASSA beneficiaries and fraudulent claims.
