Eastern Cape Police arrest 20-year-old for the murder of Gqeberha councillor Sicelo Mleve

A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Ward Councillor Sicelo Mleve.

Mleve was gunned down in his Ward 27 constituency office in Zwide, Gqeberha, on the evening of June 20th.

The 20-year old suspect was arrested in Kwazakhele on Sunday and will be appearing in court at the New Brighton Magistrates Court on Friday, 03 July 2026.

He faces a number of charges including murder and armed robbery Police say further arrests cannot be ruled out as the investigation is ongoing.
