Treasury withholds more than R300m from Mopani District Municipality: Mayor Pule Shayi weighs in

Eleven municipalities in the Northern Cape are part of the 69 across the country that have not received their equitable share from the National Treasury this month.

Hopetown's Thembelihle municipality received a qualified report in the 2023/24 financial year.

It had overspent its budget by 186%, with nearly half of its expenditure classified as fruitless and wasteful.
