Youth demand greater role in public debt management as borrowing hits KSh13T

Young people are demanding direct inclusion in how the country manages its public debt as national borrowing hits an unprecedented 13 trillion shillings.  Presenting their proposals before lawmakers on Thursday during a conversation on the status of Kenya’s debt, youth representatives and civil society groups argued that servicing heavy debt is crippling vital sectors including healthcare. They proposed a real-time debt register, global borrowing reforms and accountability.
