Multiple dead, several trapped in mall after quake hits Japan

Multiple people are believed dead after a mall floor collapsed in Japan's southern Kumamoto Prefecture in Kyushu following a magnitude-7.1 earthquake on Tuesday (Jul 28 ).

Emergency services said many are trapped in the Aeon mall outlet in Kashima Town.

Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, said in an X post that her government has set up a task force to gather information, assess possible damage and prepare for rescue operations if needed. #japan #japannews
