TVP World Europe Editor Marcin Zaborowski said the meeting between the Polish and Ukrainian foreign ministers ended without a public comment, making it impossible to tell whether the silence reflected quiet progress or deep disagreement.
He argued that the growing dispute over Ukraine’s decision to honor figures linked to a wartime Ukrainian nationalist movement is playing straight into Russia’s hands because strong Polish–Ukrainian cooperation is one of the biggest deterrents against the Kremlin.
Zaborowski warned that the controversy has become a real political hindrance for Ukraine’s EU ambitions, since Poland has the power to block accession if the historical issues remain unresolved. He also suggested President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may have embraced nationalist symbolism to strengthen his domestic political position, even though he had previously avoided that approach.
In the second part of the interview, Zaborowski explained that the AfD’s rise in Germany is being fueled by frustration with mainstream coalition politics, while warning that giving pro-Russian politicians access to power could pose serious security risks for Germany and the wider Western alliance.
