With only 65 days to this year's Local Government Elections on the 4th of November, the Electoral Commission of South Africa will this afternoon brief the media on the outcome of the candidate nomination submissions by political parties and independent candidates.
The cut-off date for the submission of candidate nomination lists by political parties and independent candidates was Friday at 5pm.
Meanwhile, in a statement released by the ANC earlier this week, the party says a small number of the party's candidates entries were still being finalised after the submission deadline passed due the Commission's candidate-capture system experiencing technical issues.
However, the IEC says the Commission's Online Candidate Nomination System remained available to users throughout the nomination process, including the cut-off date.
