Acts of sabotage linked to Russia have been on the uptick in Europe, with at least five hybrid attacks identified as Kremlin-inspired in the last week alone.

“Hybrid warfare is now becoming a sad reality and a normal situation for Europe,” Heather Grabbe, Senior Fellow at Bruegel, told TVP World, citing an increase in acts of sabotage, targeted killings linked to Russia over the past several years, especially since the start of the war, as well as electoral interference through disinformation in an attempt to undermine democracy as “an increasing threat.”

“They mean that essentially we have a war going on in Europe. It’s just not declared,” she added, concluding that “that’s one of the reasons why it's important for Europeans to hang together.”
