Absa PMI falls to lowest level in 2026

The latest reading from the Absa Purchasing Managers' Index shows operating conditions within the manufacturing sector remain challenging.

The seasonally adjusted index worsened in August falling from 46.8 to 45.8 points.

This is the lowest reading so far this year. A reading below 50 signalls contraction.
