Liberals sweep byelections and secure majority

The Liberals kept two previously held seats and picked up a third on Aug. 31, marking the party's second byelection hat trick this year.

Tanveer Shahnawaz won in the Toronto riding of Beaches–East York while out in B.C., Braeden Caley picked up the win in North Vancouver–Capilano. But the biggest win for Mark Carney’s Liberals was in Quebec's Chicoutimi–Le Fjord after Daniel Gobeil flipped the seat once held by former Conservative MP Richard Martel.
