Reunion across millennia: Why China-Kyrgyzstan ties are entering a golden era

How should we understand China-Kyrgyzstan relations today? In an interview with CGTN's Wang Guan, Sheradil Baktygulov, director of the Global Policy Institute of Kyrgyzstan, offered a poetic take: "We are not rediscovering each other. We are reuniting."

From Chinese historian Sima Qian's accounts of the Kyrgyz ancestors more than 2,300 years ago to today's "golden era" of bilateral relations, the friendship between China and Kyrgyzstan has endured through the centuries. Shared cultural memories, common values and growing mutual trust are breathing new life into this time-tested friendship.
