Fully automated in-car immigration clearance to be trialled at Tuas Checkpoint

Drivers and passengers travelling by car to Johor can soon clear immigration without the need for an officer. Live trials for a fully-automated in-vehicle clearance system are set to begin at Tuas Checkpoint in the coming months, with a view on rolling it out across Singapore's land borders from 2027. There were nearly 245 million crossings across all checkpoints in 2025, up 6.3% from 2024. Claudia Lim takes a first look at the Automated Passenger Clearance System (APCS).
