Malaysia detains over 100 Rohingya refugees seeking shelter at UNHCR

Malaysian authorities detained more than 100 Rohingya asylum seekers on Monday (Jul 27) after they gathered outside the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) office in Kuala Lumpur, saying they were seeking protection after being evicted from their homes. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the gathering had raised public concerns and warned that anyone without valid permits would be detained by immigration authorities. #malaysianews #malaysia
